This Week at CLS

This past week at CLS was "catch up" week. We've been slammed with big orders for the past month, so it's been hard to keep up with every job on the schedule. We're entering into one of our slower times of the year, so we're trying our best to get ahead of schedule and work on other projects around the building.

The highlight of the week may've been a Friday afternoon rush order for our friends at Select Suzuki. They wanted shirts for their Custom Showdown between KY Pro Tints and Lucky's Krazy Kustomz. The event was Friday night at the Capital Expo. We worked up the art and got it approved, pulled shirts from a separate order due later next week, and completed the order in quick fashion. While this type of situation isn't typical practice for CLS, it goes to show that we're willing to do what we can to satisfy our customers.

This coming week, we'll be working on Project Graduation orders for the local high schools, and focusing on getting ahead of schedule. Maybe we'll throw in a rush order or two to make things interesting! See you next week...

This Week at CLS

Starting soon, we'll start a weekly article titled "This Week at CLS." The article will focus on current orders we're working on, along with insight into "behind the scenes" at CLS.

As a preview, let's recap this past week at CLS...

We're currently working on one of our biggest orders of the year for Special Olympics Kentucky and their Summer Games 2006 shirts. It's a 2700-piece order, with the design being a three-color front and one-color back. This means we will "pull the squeegee" 10,800 on this order. That's a lot! While we try to complete this order on time, we'll be putting in Saturday and Memorial Day hours to keep up with other orders on our schedule.

Work is steady for Natalie in the embroidery area, but nothing "blog-worthy" for now.

I (Andrew) just completed work on a website for American Founders Bank employees to order directly from CLS. The entire project took an estimated twelve hours to complete, and is powered by PayPal. It was my first time setting up an online store, but the process went fairly smooth. The site should be launched to the AFB employees sometime later next week. We've already started thinking about other customers we could reach with direct-ordering websites.

It's been a busy month of May at CLS, which isn't necessarily a surprise. May is one of our busiest months of the year. What's made things interesting is vacations, illnesses and more. It has now been over a month since we've had a full staff on two consecutive days. Fortunately, we've kept our head above water as we move into a typically slower time for us - June & July. Stay tuned for more!
